The Simplest Way to Cure Your Burnout
It's 5 p.m. on a Friday.
Are you stumbling across the finish line of your day or week exhausted and depleted? Or are you bursting through the finish line, huge smile on your face, and arms up in the victory of a great accomplishment?
Why is it that some people can finish the week super strong with lots left in their tank? You know…the ones that go out to happy hour after work and then go straight to dinner all without having to go home first?
And then why is it that some people literally have to drag themselves home from work and onto the couch for 6 hours of a Netflix marathon?
Today I'm going to show you how to stop your burnout in the fastest way possible, in the shortest amount of time possible, so you can stop feeling so exhausted and have the energy for your life and the people and the things you really care about.
And I know right now you might be thinking “But I'm EXTRA burned out Jenny. I mean, crispy fried. So is this really going to work for me? How can there be anything that helps?”
I do have a solution for you, but it's probably going to make a lot more sense after I introduce you to a very important woman, Deena Kastor. She’s been called the fastest American woman marathoner ever and has built up a resume that rivaled no other American distance runner in history. She's a three time Olympian and she set seven U.S. records.
She. Is. A. Boss.
Now, some may think that Deena is the maven of marathons because she can run 26.2 miles straight.
Not true.
What if I told you that she runs only 5K at a time?
You see, at every 5K during the race, she grabs a water bottle and refuels for the next 5K ahead. Ultimately, her race is not one long slog, but a series of sprints with strategic recovery and fuel.
And I realize you might be wondering what this has to do with your burnout…
Running 26.2 miles is hard. It is. But you know what's not hard? STOPPING.
You also need to stop and refuel. You, too, need strategic recovery.
So how do we stop burnout?
We stop it with something I call Micro Recovery - it’s the simplest way to get you across the finish line of your day looking and feeling strong.
Burnout is an energy management problem. You have to strategically recover energy throughout the marathon of your day – and not just in the evenings and not just on the weekends because by then, you're already energy bankrupt.
How long does this take? It’s as fast and easy as Deena hitting one of her water bottle stations! I know you're extremely busy so I'm talking 60 seconds here.
- Grab yourself a healthy snack. That's physical recovery.
- Think of 3 things that you're grateful for. That's high quality emotional recovery.
- Have a drink of water.
- Do a Micro Burst. It’s one of the best ways to rid your body of cortisol and stimulate the production of energy.
- Or just close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to get some mental recovery.
And the great news is there are so many other ways to recover your energy. Just click here for your free toolkit - because we all need recovery!
