Getting Over Obstacles
Nov 27, 2008You need to know that I never considered myself very athletic. In elementary school I was usually chosen next to last for any physical ed game, I got the "I Tried" ribbon EVERY year in the Presidential Physical Fitness testing, had stitches in my head numerous times, and was made to wear corrective shoes to try and straighten my "pigeon toes" because my hips are deformed. I also have scholiosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Why am I telling you this?
I'm not trying to get your pity or set up a good "before" and "after" story. There are things in all of our lives that can be obstacles to a fit and healthy lifestyle -- genetics, negative experiences with exercise, a busy schedule, work -- but they are just that: obstacles. Not impossibilities.
The purpose of this blog is to share with you my experience and knowledge in regards to exercise, fitness, nutrition, performance and wellness. I consider myself a Human Catalyst who is obsessed with performance -- both in my own life as well as in others'. I strive to push myself and others to the limit and have seen the dramatic difference this mindset and strategy has made in all aspects of life. More of my story will come out over time, but please know that as much as I did not consider my self very athletic when I was younger, being physically active has changed my life. A good workout is better than any drug out there, is my mental "reset" button, and helps me manage stress.
I've got a lot to share, and hope you will come back often to get inspired or to learn something new. If you haven't found them yet, there are educational articles posted on the site and I will continue to add to them regularly. Right now there are two articles on staying fit and healthy while traveling (for all you business travelers as well as those about to do some holiday travel) and on the benefits of interval training, which is what PowerHouse Hit the Deck™ technically is.
If you're still wondering who in the world I am and haven't stumbled across my bio, you can find it here.
Last week I came across this and loved it immediately: "Create the kind of self you will be happy to live with all your life." -- Golda Meir.

It will enhance every aspect of your life -- your ability to be a parent, your leadership at work, your focus as a student, your role as a significant other or your personal pursuits.
